Room for improvement but overall good coat

We go on lots of hikes in Newfoundland so I ordered this coat to make sure he was warm over the winter on our adventures in his carrier. I was hoping it would replace my other winter coat as well.

I'm overall happy with the coat but have a few issues:
    1) It isn't quite as warm as I hoped - it's a polyester fill on the inner coat. I think we'll be reasonably comfortable to about -4 degrees. Probably shouldn't be taking little one out on a long walk much colder that than anyways but it means the coat won't replace my winter coat.
    2) Sizing - I went a generous size up but I maybe could have even gone two as by the time you have your carrier underneath (Ergo 360) it is a bit tight across the back when reaching forward. My baby is 4 months so I am a bit concerned the add in panel won't be roomy enough as he grows. For reference I'm 5'8" , 145lbs, and a US size 8 with narrow shoulders.
    3) Quality: as another reviewer had posted, the two jackets are secured together with 3 buttons - one of the sleeve buttons flew off the moment I put it on

    Things I like so far:
    1) Ease of use - lil' dude loves facing forward and peering out from the coat when we go to the market. Much better for forward and tummy to tummy than our previous solution of the extra large men's jacket
    2) Water repellent: The outer coat beaded rain well in a light shower.
    3) Length - covers my bum and his feet

I did a lot of researching before I found this coat - there was some information but not many reviews so I knew it was a bit of a risk... hoping this review is helpful to someone! I was between 3 and 4 stars but ultimately went with 4 stars as it will meet most of my needs at the price point.
